Chris and Jane approached Preston Pools to design and build a bespoke indoor pool hall at their Cheshire home. The brief called for a modern, hotel-quality wellness suite — a swimming pool, raised spa, steam room and sauna — finished to the highest specification, with a relaxed lounge atmosphere centred around a poolside television.
Combining a level-deck pool, a raised skimmer-deck spa, two separate wellness cabins and a feature water blade within a single hall risked a cluttered, over-specified room. The clients wanted modern luxury without losing warmth, and a layout that genuinely worked for daily family use and entertaining — not just a showpiece.
We specified an 11.4m × 5.5m level-deck pool with a graduated 1.2m–1.8m depth and a concealed automatic cover. A raised 2m square skimmer-deck spa sits alongside, oriented to the television. A split-face stone feature wall houses a one-metre water-blade fountain, balanced by large-format porcelain cladding and a matt-and-gloss stretched vinyl ceiling.
The finished pool hall blends modern luxury with natural stone texture. Full-spectrum colour-change LED lighting in the ceiling and steam room transforms the mood at the touch of a button, picked up by the cocktail mosaic tiles inside the steam cabin. Chris and Jane use the spa to watch their beloved Manchester City in ultimate luxury.
