Recent Projects.

These swimming pool case studies document real Preston Pools commissions from brief to completion — private homes across Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria, alongside hydrotherapy facilities for SEN schools and care settings. Each entry records the brief, the engineering, the specification and the build time, so you can compare pool installation examples like-for-like against your own project — from a nine-month garden build at Willington Rise to the Silver SPATA Award-winning Rod's Pool. How These Swimming Pool Case Studies Come Together

Every project above followed the same six-stage process: initial consultation and site assessment, design development, engineering and technical specification, construction and project management, finishing and commissioning, then ongoing aftercare. Our process page sets out what happens at each stage in detail — the case studies here show what that process produces on real sites, from a secluded countryside garden at Willington Rise to an SEN school's hydrotherapy suite at Sir Tom Finney Community School in Preston.

What shapes the cost. None of the projects above were priced from a catalogue. What a swimming pool installation costs depends on whether it is indoor, outdoor or basement; the site's ground conditions and access; the size and shape of the pool; the plant, filtration and heating specification; and any additional features — a raised spa, hydrotherapy jets, bespoke lighting, a feature wall. Rod's Pool and Venika's Pool are both roughly 10m long, but very different specifications — a built-in spa and steam room at one, a 3D feature wall and circular basalt spa at the other — put them on different budgets and timelines. We quote every project individually after a site visit; see our FAQ for more on how that works.

Who these projects are for. The case studies above split broadly into four categories: luxury indoor and basement pools — the largest group here — outdoor and infinity pools, lap and fitness pools for daily training, and hydrotherapy and accessible pools for SEN schools, care settings and private therapeutic use — the Sir Tom Finney project above was built inside a £5.7m SEN school redevelopment, with level-deck access, grab-rails and sensory lighting throughout. Whichever category matches your brief, the process and standard of engineering behind it is the same.

Proof, not promises. We have been designing and building pools for over two decades, and several of the households above have commissioned more than one project with us over the years. The Silver SPATA Award attached to Rod's Pool is independent industry recognition, not a claim we are making about ourselves — and every specification listed against these luxury swimming pool projects, from pool dimensions to build duration, is the one we actually delivered, not an aspirational spec sheet.

Questions People Ask About Our Projects

These come up often when people are comparing luxury swimming pool projects or shortlisting a builder from a set of swimming pool case studies like the ones above. Our full FAQ page covers more.

How long does it take to build a swimming pool?

Timescales depend on the type and complexity of the project. The outdoor pool at Willington Rise, above, ran nine months including its garden annex and surrounds; indoor and basement pools integrated into a wider build, such as Rod's Pool, can run up to two years once structural work, spa features and coordination with other trades are factored in. A simpler installation sits well inside those timescales — we give a firm programme with every quotation.

What affects the cost of a swimming pool installation?

Cost is shaped by several variables: whether the pool is indoor, outdoor or basement; ground conditions and site access; the size and shape of the pool; the plant, filtration and heating specification; and any additional features such as a spa, hydrotherapy jets, or bespoke lighting and finishes. Because each variable moves the price, we quote every project individually after a site visit rather than working from a price list.

Do you build hydrotherapy, commercial or school pools, as well as private ones?

Yes. Alongside private residential pools, we have delivered institutional and commercial commissions — the hydrotherapy pool at Sir Tom Finney Community School in Preston was built as part of a £5.7m SEN school redevelopment, with full disabled access, grab-rails and sensory lighting. See our hydrotherapy and accessible pools page for more on this type of project.

Can you work alongside my architect or builder?

Absolutely. Many of our projects, including several of the basement and indoor pools above, are delivered as part of a wider new-build or renovation programme. We coordinate directly with architects, structural engineers and main contractors so the pool integrates seamlessly with the rest of the build, and we are happy to join the project team at any stage.

Where do you work?

We are based in the North of England and primarily serve clients across Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria and the wider North West — reflected in the case studies above, from Tarporley and Northwich to Preston and the Lake District. We also take on selected projects further afield where the scope and specification align with our expertise.
