Noel approached Preston Pools for a level-deck pool set in an ancillary building separate from the main house — a striking oak-framed structure with a glass roof. The brief called for a luxury leisure space with a split-level spa and, distinctively, underwater windows offering views into the pool from the basement.
Two large underwater windows, giving views into the pool from the basement while swimming, introduced significant structural and waterproofing complexity. The pool also sat within a huge oak framework supporting a glass roof with a six-metre span, so the installation had to integrate with an exceptional but demanding piece of construction.
We built a level-deck pool and split-level spa within the oak-framed building, finished with a custom-made polished-steel cobra fountain and a raised spa featuring ergonomic seating and a bubble airpad in the foot well. Two large underwater windows were engineered into the structure, with a swimjet and ozone water purification completing the system.
The finished pool is a real piece of luxury leisure space — and earned a Bronze SPATA Award. The oak framework and six-metre glass roof flood the room with light, while the two underwater windows give a breath-taking view of swimmers from the basement. The custom polished-steel cobra fountain forms a sculptural centrepiece.
