Venika approached Preston Pools for a basement pool that breaks the mould — a breathtaking space with a striking feature wall and, uniquely, a grand piano visible overhead through a glass ceiling. The brief combined dramatic water features with a full wellness offer of sauna and steam room.
A basement location with a glass ceiling looking up to a grand piano demanded careful structural and waterproofing coordination. Integrating a 3D feature wall with a recessed waterfall, a water-blade fountain, a swimjet and a bespoke circular spa — with an automatic cover that wraps around the circular spa — required precise bespoke engineering.
We built a 10m × 5.3m level-deck basement pool with a 3D feature wall housing a recessed waterfall, a water-blade fountain and a counter-current swimjet. A bespoke raised circular basalt-stone spa sits in the corner, complementing the basalt surround, and a concealed automatic cover was manufactured to wrap around its curve.
The finished basement pool breaks the mould — the 3D wall, recessed waterfall and water blade making a dramatic statement beneath the grand piano framed in the glass ceiling. A glass-fronted sauna and steam room complete the wellness suite, and the circular basalt spa with its wrap-around automatic cover anchors the corner.
