Mark & Wendy approached Preston Pools to fit a stone-clad outbuilding — one that blends into the surrounding countryside — with a modern pool hall containing everything needed for fun and relaxation. The brief asked for a pool, spa, sauna and steam room that could feel open to the garden in fine weather.
Delivering the benefits of an indoor pool with the openness of an outdoor one meant integrating large sliding doors on two sides without compromising humidity control. A ceiling-mounted waterfall, a varied wet environment and full-spectrum lighting all had to work together within a building designed to read as a countryside outbuilding.
We built a 10m × 4.5m skimmer pool, 1.2m–1.8m deep, flush with a metallic-steel feature wall, with a 2.3m level-deck spa in matching iris-and-metal mosaic. A matt stretched vinyl ceiling carries a showstopping 2m blade fountain mounted as a waterfall, while three-panel sliding doors open the building on two sides.
The finished hall gives Mark & Wendy an indoor pool that opens to the countryside. A glass-fronted double-bench sauna and a mosaic steam room with a colour-change translucent ceiling complete the wellness offer, and the ceiling-mounted waterfall and full-spectrum RGBWW lighting let them transform the mood at will.
